What does a typical session look like?
A typical red light therapy session is surprisingly simple and comfortable.
You position the device—whether it’s a panel, mask, or handheld unit—close to the area you want to treat. Most devices are designed to be used at a distance of a few centimeters to about 30 centimeters, depending on their power output.
Once the device is turned on, it emits red and/or near-infrared light. You’ll feel a gentle warmth, but it’s not intense or uncomfortable. There’s no pain, no vibration, and no invasive sensation.
Sessions usually last between 10 to 20 minutes per area. During this time, the light penetrates the skin and begins interacting with your cells at a biochemical level.
Many people use this time to relax—some listen to music, meditate, or simply rest. That’s another advantage of the therapy: it integrates easily into daily routines without disruption.
After the session, there’s no downtime. You can immediately return to your normal activities. This makes it very different from treatments that require recovery periods.
Consistency is key. Most users follow a schedule of several sessions per week to achieve optimal results.
